1. Does The Cigarette Counter automatically count the cigarettes every
time I open the cigarette pack?
No, for two main reasons:
a. Because if it was automatic the count would be lost every time you
opened the pack to offer a cigarette to someone.
b. Because the act of pushing a button every time you smoke has an
important function of increasing your awareness of what you’re doing:
harming yourself.
2. Do I have to count the cigarettes I give to other people?
No, the count displayed on your cigarette counter is useful to you to know how many cigarettes you smoked or how many you have left to smoke, according to your reduction plan. If you counted the cigarettes you gave away, then your personal count would be incorrect.
3. How long does the battery last? How do I change the battery?
The average life of a Cigarette Counter battery is six months to one year if used continuously. If the battery is dead you can go to a watch repair shop to have the battery changed or just buy a new cigarette counter. It’ll probably be cheaper!
If you want to change the battery yourself, the battery type is a G3A, also known as LR41, AG3, LR736, LR41, L736, 192, GP192, V36A, 392A, or 92A.
To remove the battery you'll need a tiny screwdriver such as one you'd find in a eyeglasses repair kit, found at most any drug store. Remove the tiny screw on the bottom of the counter. You can then push down on the circuit board inside The Cigarette Counter and remove the battery. You may need to bend a small metal tab to allow the battery to slip out. Insert a new battery, bend the metal tab back in place and screw the case back together.
4. Isn't there a risk that people will "cheat," not counting some cigarettes?
If you have taken the time and money to acquire and use The Cigarette Counter, then you probably are not going to cheat. People who don't really want to quit smoking may cheat. But if you are here in search of a solution to your smoking habit, then you will use The Cigarette Counter appropriately. Sometimes you can be more flexible, for example if you’re going out to a party and you want to allow yourself a few extra cigarettes. The important thing is that you maintain your decided plan of reduction in your everyday life.
5. If I finish a pack of cigarettes and place The Cigarette Counter on a new pack, do I have to "reset" it?
No. You’re keeping a count of how many cigarettes you smoke daily,
