HERE ARE SOME PRACTICAL EXAMPLES:

Example 1. If you now smoke a pack a day (20 cigarettes), it would be a great progress to cut down to 10 cigarettes a day within 2 months...

In this case, within the first month you will reduce your smoking to not more than 15 cigarettes a day, maybe allowing yourself to smoke some extra cigarettes during weekends. So, set your counter to 15 and press "Minus" each time you smoke.

The second month gradually decrease: the first week put the limit to 14, the second to 13, the third to 12, and the fourth to 10. Keep it like that for a while so that you get accustomed, and then try to cut down even more!

Example 2. If now you smoke 15 cigarettes a day, it would be excellent to cut down to 5 a day within 2 months. See how you could do it in the graph below. If you are used to going out with friends during the evening, try to smoke fewer cigarettes during the day, so that you don't crave for more at night. If you manage to smoke only 2 during the day it will be easier to not smoke more than 3 during the evening.

Example 3. If now you smoke 10 cigarettes a day, you could go down to 5 within a month, and to 3 a day within two months, and radically improve your health!

Example 4. If now you smoke 5 cigarette a day, why not try to reduce them to the point where you're not harming yourself anymore?

IF YOU WANT TO QUIT SMOKING:

The most effective way to quit once and forever is to stop, and to not think about the fact that you quit. Act as if you weren't really ever addicted to cigarettes.

Here are some suggestions that we hope can be useful to keep you away from cigarettes once you've kissed them goodbye:

- Pay attention to how much better you breathe now, and to how you can taste and smell things much better!

- You have more energy, and when you happen to run or to climb the stairs, you don't find yourself short of breath anymore!

- Don't think about how good you have been and how easy it was to quit. In the long run this way of thinking will lead you to allow yourself another cigarette...and you'll find yourself in the trap again, only this time it'll be harder to quit for real.

- Think about all the money you're saving now, just because you're not buying expensive cigarette packs anymore...think about how you can invest that amount of money for something more productive and healthy!
