When I am determined, which I just started my journey of non smoking 7 days ago, to quit smoking I set a date throw away any lighters or matches or any cigarette paraphernalia whatsoever. Then I slap on a nicotine patch in the morning and begin my journey. I stay away from alcohol for at least 4-6 weeks. I minimize my contact with friends or family members who do smoke until I feel strong enough to be in their presence for a significant amount of time. Lastly, for about a week I go off all diets and indulge myself with some comfort food so for at least the very beginning of quitting smoking I don’t feel like I am completely depriving myself of the things I like.
