I have found that reading really helps because it keeps the mind and hands busy away from the thought of smoking. I have also found that starburst/gum also helps by keeping the mouth busy. And the thing that has helped me the most is actually the internet believe it or not. There are thousands of tips, advice, supporters, videos, etc. that have helped tremendously in keeping the motive and discipline to stick with it. I have gradually decreased my cig intake over time and just quit all together. I thought that the nicotine gum, patches, etc may just hinder it or prolong it because it’s still keeping the nicotine in my system. I know that I will stick with it due to recent unexpected health issues, but it is definitely one of the hardest things I have ever done.
